Montreal, Place d’Armes, QC
It is the most important historical place in Montreal. All around, the facades retrace the phases of Montreal’s history. In the centre stands the statue of Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, the first governor of the new colony in 1642. Indeed, Montréal was founded by the Société Notre-Dame de Montréal, which sent a few dozen people to establish a fortified city on the banks of the St. Lawrence.
