In the chic Yorkville district, among the elegant boutiques, stands this austere facade that contrasts with the rest of the street. From 1923 to 1943, the Jewish Maternity Hospital was established here, which later became Mount Sinai Hospital. In 1923 Jewish doctors were not allowed to practice in the other hospitals.
