The Royal Canadian Mounted Police station is the heir to the former Mounties. The facility is rather typical of what is found in small remote communities scattered across the vast Canadian territory. Nevertheless, it was to facilitate equitable access to community services that the authorities incited the population of Battle Harbour Island to move to Mary’s Harbour in the 1930s.
