There’s something of Roy Lichtenstein’s pop art in that face from a comic book. The British artist D*Face was indeed inspired by the New York scene. The false advertisements are not immediately noticed, as if half erased by time, yet they bear the painter’s signature and explain the title of the work, Looking Back, 2016.
