Labrador Coastal Drive, NL
Construction of the Trans Labrador Highway needed some mobile camps. As communities are hundreds of kilometres apart, this meant periods of isolation in a hostile environment. The project began in 1992 and is expected to be completed in 2021 with the entire route paved. One of the reasons for the project was to put an end to the costly subsidies required to operate ferries to link isolated ports on the Labrador coast.
