Saigon Park was created around Saigon Lake. It is a man-made lake designed to regulate and purify runoff water during heavy rains. Due to increasing construction in the area, natural creeks such as Cookville Creek now receive more and faster rainwater. To prevent flooding and to better clear the water, retention lakes are becoming necessary, providing an additional area for recreation.
