Apex Hudson’s Bay Company, NU
Beyond the fur trade and grocery shopping, the stations expanded activities such as banking to match local needs. In 1987, the Hudson’s Bay Company’s northern operations were sold to the North West Company. This company operates under the Northmart brand name. The store now has modern premises in central Iqaluit, while the historic buildings on Apex Beach are no longer operational.
