Along the Rideau Canal, ON
According to its statistics Parks Canada recorded the passage of 100,000 boats in 1982, for the 150 years of the Rideau Canal, for only 61,000 in 2019. Traffic is therefore declining while boat rental activity for casual mariners is increasing. 66% of the boats come from Ontario, 24% from Quebec and 9% from the United States. Perhaps it is satisfying to note that despite its charms, the Rideau Canal does not generate an excessive attraction, unlike so many other sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List, where the canal has been listed since 2007.

Fewer boats probably makes for an even more enjoyable journey through the canal. 🙂

Exactly, there is still enough for keeping the lock staff busy and entertaining the visitors.
