Port au Choix, NL
Located on the coast, Port au Choix can be expected to have some fishing related business. Strangely enough, the population did not really begin to increase until the beginning of the 20th century. Actually from 1713 to 1904 the French Shore Treaty granted the exclusivity of fishing to the French, but on the condition that they did not settle on land. Conversely, the English could settle but could not fish.

🙂 it’s mostly curiosity, for a long time I was intrigued by the origin of the French Shore, until I travelled to Newfoundland where I was directly exposed to this historical quirk. I am glad that this also attracts your attention.
