Houses in Old Montreal, QC
At 221 rue du Saint-Sacrement, Silvain-Laurent had a house built in 1810 and sold it the following year to the Marquis de Lotbinière, heir to a family that had lived in Quebec since 1651, owned several seigneuries and was an officer in the French army. Under the English regime, he made a career in politics sitting in the House of Commons. This beautiful house corresponded to his rank in society. Later, the house was used more as offices in the financial district of Montreal.
