A painter could title Autumn landscape with cows. Baie-Saint-Paul is indeed known to have attracted many outdoor painters, seduced by its undulating landscapes and autumn colours. The peaks of the Catholic bell towers are typical of the communities that came out of French colonization. This small town near the St. Lawrence River received settlers as early as the beginning of the 17th century, its first seigneury being granted in 1636.
