Best of Canada, Nunavut
The Legislative Assembly of Nunavut has been in existence since 1999 and has 22 members representing the 26 communities, regardless of the size of each community, with Iqaluit electing four members. Its functioning has been copied from Anglo-Saxon parliamentary customs, with a Speaker presiding over the Assembly and a Premier heading the executive. A special feature is that there are no political parties constituting the majority and opposition, but instead a consensus government. Free guided tours are organised every day.

It sounds very democratic. Lovely interior of the Assembly room, it’s impressive.

I think this system is easier with a small number of members. As we walked around the room with the guide, many symbolic objects were explained. Like the leather of the sealskin chairs that had to be changed as they were too warm.
