Transhumance in Aubrac

For the occasion, the most robust cows are decorated with bouquets of flowers and ribbons, even flags, without forgetting the bell around the neck. The herds announce themselves in advance with their bells ringing in the valleys. Depending on the distance from the farm, the route can be 43 miles, 70 kilometres, but usually less. After using the paved road, which is filtered from traffic, the herds will pass through the drailles, the traditional paths lined with dry stone walls.
