Weekend in Bordeaux
The Submarine Base is a legacy of the Second World War and was built by the Germans from 1941 onwards to house a fleet of mainly Italian submarines. The base had eleven basins protected by a roof of over 16 feet, 5 metres, of reinforced concrete and armoured doors. Today, four of the basins have been converted into a projection area as part of the Bassins de Lumières. Playing with the unusual site and the reflections of the water, the compositions based on impressionist paintings are displayed in several dimensions.
