Weekend in Lyon
The Croix-Rousse rises from the bank of the Saône opposite the Vieux-Lyon. This district owes its singularity to the existence of the Canuts, silk workers who worked from their apartment-workshop. Their numbers grew considerably in the 19th century, making it necessary to build this new district, with housing large enough to accommodate their craft. Thus gathered, the Canuts became aware of their strength and claimed their rights. The precursors of the social movements that would follow the industrial revolution can be seen here.

Once again you have a good memory. If your hotel was in the Vieux-Lyon you had to cross those bridges and see the view to get to the city centre. Thanks for the comment.
