The Pompidou Centre is named after another former President of the Republic, Georges Pompidou, who did not have time to see it completed. Opened in 1977, its architecture has long been controversial, which is a good sign, the eye is now used to it but is still surprised. It is not just a museum but a creation centre, designed to encourage contemporary art. Its look, collections and exhibitions attracted 3.4 million visitors in 2019.

Great! As it’s a contemporary creation, it changes all the time. At the moment there are works for several years.
