While the temporary terraces seem to be becoming more permanent by the week, another trend is developing with food delivery. Squads of two-wheeled delivery drivers are clustering at the doors of restaurants, then speeding through the neighbourhood streets, with a preference for pedestrian streets.

We’re noticing that trend everywhere we go – even on Greek islands and in Turkey and Croatia last year, everybody from the bakers to the bistrots seem to have adopted a home delivery service. Mopeds abound!

This sounds like a new business model, although adding a middleman makes little sense. I’m afraid that laziness is the main motivation.
