Conques is located on the Camino de Compostela starting from Puy en Velais and passing through Toulouse. Before being a stage on the Camino, Conques was already an important pilgrimage centre. The village is dominated by its religious heritage, notably the Abbey of Sainte Foix and its outstanding tympanum.
