August 2021 – Paris
International travel has resumed, albeit timidly, as suspicion of foreigners is a common attitude when health problems arise. It takes years of passive trust in Europe to reach the opposite excess, in my recent trip to the Benelux countries I crossed five borders without any control.
We are now in the heart of the European summer, I am still accumulating material for future articles and start covering this dense continent. In the immediate future I will continue to introduce the Canadian provinces from coast to coast, as well as revisit my trips to the United States.
Destinations for August:
What you may have missed last month:
- Travel in Canada
- Canada: Introduction to Newfoundland and Labrador
- Canada: Introduction to Nova Scotia
- Canada: Introduction to New Brunswick
- Travel in the United States
- United States: Cape Cod
- United States: The Gilded Age of Newport
- United States: The end of Newport’s Gilded Age
- United States: Shelburne Museum

We’re watching developments carefully on that score, whilst here in Greece. Partly because we’re intending to visit several islands and there seems to be changing rules about island hopping, and partly because we really want to include Italy on this trip and are waiting to see how transfer from Greece to Italy will work for UK residents.

Travelling abroad, we feel a bit like laboratory mice in a labyrinth with rules that can change at any time, without the material or human resources on site being adapted to these changes. Good luck!
