July 2021 – Paris
In theory, as of today, the borders in Europe are now more open to neighbouring travellers. As the health conditions in Ireland remain very tense, at the last minute, I have decided to cancel my planned trip and tomorrow, I will instead make a long escape to the Benelux countries, that interesting prefiguration of the European Union.
Starting with the national holidays in North America, I will begin a summer of consolidating my presentations on these two vast countries, Canada and the USA. For the moment, I am reluctantly leaving out the South. I have not mentioned Cuba, Machu Picchu or even Iguazu yet. There is also the modernity of Sao Paulo and other surviving Jesuit missions from the past. We will come back to that.
Destinations for July:
What you may have missed last month:
- Costa Rica: Road trip in the Highlands
- Panama: Bocas del Toro
- Belize: San Ignacio
- Guatemala: Tikal, a Mayan superpower

Thanks for your support. Even though in Europe border crossings have become a simple matter, the circumstances are such that a little uncertainty is introduced. But the desire to change horizon is too strong!

In my opinion, all the limitations we have experienced are irrelevant. The virus doesn’t start after 21 hours, over 6 people or beyond 100 km. The real protection is personal distancing, mask and cleanliness, even after vaccination. I take advantage of the easier border crossing, but I continue with the same personal procedures.

At the moment you have to be very flexible in your travel plans. I crossed my first border without any sanitary control, I hope that there is not an excess of optimism here.
