Getting around Vancouver, BC
Extending the use of bicycles in Vancouver also meant providing adequate ferry services to cross False Creek on the south side of the downtown core, rather than making the long ride around or dealing with heavy bridge traffic. Cyquabus was created in 1995, the first specimen was assembled by its owner and was designed to carry bicycles, buggies and wheelchairs. It was a success, there are now 8 Cyquabusses.

Such an inventive idea to keep people moving while reducing street traffic. I miss this part of Vancouver!

There are enough bicycle users for the business to be profitable, not just in the summer but all year round.

What a neat idea. And I guess makes perfect sense if a lot more people are biking around these days. I just love the name of it: Cyquabus. For some reason, just makes me laugh.

I think you’re right, they play on the fun side, with the name, the flashy colors and the unusual overall appearance. It’s fun to watch them come and go. Thanks for coming along.
