Montreal, Place d’Armes, QC
There is surprisingly no security control to enter Bank of Montreal’s vast teller room, nothing seems to have changed since the 19th century. Simply push the door to access the hall and be among the mighty marble columns supporting a richly decorated ceiling, including gold. In the centre stands a statue that looks like an ancient goddess, designed to pay tribute to the bank’s employees who died in the First World War. An impressive decorum to illustrate the financial strength of the banking institution.
